  He worked in southern England and Wales from 1838 until 1868 when his failing health, never robust, forced him to give up the ministry. He then continued as strength permitted to preach and conduct society classes. The Circuits he ministered in were: 1838 Institution (Hoxton) 1840 Oundle 1842 Huntingdon 1844 Swindon 1846 Alnwick 1848 Tenterden 1851 Dover 1854 Wimborne 1856 Sherborne 1858 Dursley 1861 Pontypool 1864 Abergavenny 1867 Reading 1868 Sittingbourne, Sup. 1873 Reading, Sup. 'His preaching was plain, scriptural, practical and emminently persuasive; his power as a preacher being enhanced by the clear and pathetic tones of a rich musical voice. In pastoral work he was very successful; and his naturally tender and sympathetic disposition had been developed by the deep and distressing affliction which was never absent from his own home: chastened, as few are, he was able to weep with those that wept, to the abounding comfort of many'. Last words : 'What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee.' Living at 1 Foxley Villas, Wokingham in 1881. A gentle man.
